Carpet Genie FAQ
Frequently asked questions
General
The low-moisture carpet cleaning method is an environmentally friendly alternative to steam cleaning; by using less water, we reduce water consumption. We also use powerful yet safe, biodegradable chemicals that break down dirt and grime. Using an orbital machine with a wet pad we can lift stains from carpets.
The real importance of choosing low-moisture carpet cleaning is that new homes are built on concrete slabs, like most business buildings, which can hold water after a steam cleaner is gone if it hasn’t been properly vacuumed up. This leads to mildew and carpet rot. We avoid this risk by using about a gallon or less of water for a carpet job, compared to the countless gallons of water steam cleaners pump in.
Low-moisture carpet cleaning is just as effective, if not more effective, than steam cleaning.
This can be said with confidence, as the owner has worked with steam cleaning before and still chose to run a low-moisture carpet cleaning business.
In almost all cases, it takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half to dry completely.
Turning on fans, opening windows, and using a dehumidifier all help improve dry time.
We are proud to say that we can clean all types of floors, offer upholstery cleaning, and provide mobile auto interior detailing.
It typically takes 1 to 2 hours per room to clean. Thus, a three-bedroom house can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours to clean, depending on the number of stains and whether furniture needs to be moved.
Carpet Genie always tries to offer a competitive rate, but because the low-moisture carpet-cleaning method takes longer to complete a job, we need to charge more. The benefit is to the customer, as the deep clean is more thorough and stains are addressed individually, with every effort made to meet high service standards.
As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for."
Yes, Carpet Genie does move furniture for customers.
We will move three pieces for free. After that, we charge a fee for each additional piece we move, as this can add a lot of time to a job.
In the past, there have been jobs where we spent over an hour just moving all the furniture.
Also, it is important to note that if something is too heavy for one or two people to move, our workers will not move it.
Yes, we do! We offer two cleaners, one for new stains, Genie in a Bottle, and one for reappearing stains, Your Wish.
Reach out to us if you would like to know more.
You need to wait at least 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. You can also use your hand to tap the carpet to check if it is dry.
If you walk on your carpet before that point, some stains may reappear, as walking on it will bring dirt onto your clean carpet. It is the customer's responsibility to stay off in order to ensure the cleanest carpets possible.
Yes and no.
No, you don't have to vacuum the floor. We do this as part of our service.
Yes, you need to move your furniture if you have more than three pieces in a room.
Yes, you should pick up any bags or other loose items on the floor that need to be moved elsewhere. We are not a maid service.
You don't have to be present for us to provide our services. Just make sure you are there to at least unlock the door at our set start time for the job.
If you feel comfortable providing us with a security code or a spare key - which we can put back in a designated spot. Then you are most welcome to do so.
Yes, our chemicals are specifically selected for safety around children and animals.
Yet, let us know if your children or animals have any extra sensitivity so we can use the most appropriate chemicals in your home.
Yes, the chemicals we use are safe around animals, but it is not recommended that they walk on wet carpet, as this will dirty the carpets you are paying to get cleaned and pose a risk if the animal licks the chemical while it is still wet.
The job also takes longer when animals are underfoot, and if they are not put up in a timely manner when Carpet Genie arrives, there may be a fee for re-cleaning the carpet.
We always do our best to honor the prices we quote our customers. Sometimes stains happen. Certain stains might be harder to get up than expected, requiring more time and more chemicals. Rather than just skipping stains, we believe our customers deserve the cleanest carpets we can offer.
Then there are cases where more furniture or other items have been introduced into the rooms since the original bid, thereby resulting in a higher final price.
Yes, we can clean up blood, feces, and urine.
Be aware that human fluids and waste are considered biohazards and will incur a $25 fee per area cleaned.
If any information about this is kept secret during an in-person estimate or not mentioned during an online estimate, a $35 fee will apply to each area to be cleaned.
Yes, we have a $120 minimum for jobs in the Joplin, Springfield, and Branson areas.
This is required, as traveling to these locations will cost about $35-40 in gas for a round-trip.
A 20-mile radius around Mount Vernon will not fall under this $120 job minimum.
We understand that life happens, so if something occurs, just let us know as soon as possible. If we are not informed that the job needs to be cancelled or rescheduled before we arrive, we will charge the full job minimum of $120 and a $35 inconvenience fee for a total of $155.
Special circumstances might warrant the waiver of any fee or charge, but it is on a case-by-case basis.
